We delivered historic federal climate investments into local communities.

And supported organizers on the ground in helping make them real.

Since its formation in 2019, the Green New Deal Network has advocated for bold, ambitious federal investments in climate, care, jobs, and justice.

After years of organizing and campaigning, the U.S. has now secured three major federal investment packages signed into law — the Inflation Reduction Act (2022), the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (2021), and the American Rescue Plan Act (2021). While imperfect, these investments reflect the Green New Deal’s public-spending framework, including commitments to ensure that at least 40% of benefits reach environmental justice communities.

An Organizer’s Guide for Accessing Federal Funds

This report is designed to help organizers at the state level navigate the opportunities within the 2022 Inflation Reduction Act and inform their strategies for implementing federal funds to help advance a full scale Green New Deal.

Workshops

From winter 2022 to summer 2023, GNDN hosted a series of workshops for our state partners on federal implementation. Check out the recordings and materials from these workshops:

December 2022: “Inflation Reduction Act: Opportunities for GNDN State Campaigns” — led by Rachel Patterson of Evergreen Action. This session walked state partners through key IRA funding streams, including the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund, Climate Pollution Reduction Grants, and available tax credits.
