The Green New Deal Network Endorses Kamala Harris for President
A key player in shaping Build Back Better and winning the Inflation Reduction Act is wading into the race.
Washington D.C. – Today, the Green New Deal Network, hub of the Green New Deal movement, announced their endorsement of Vice President Kamala Harris for President. The progressive coalition, which had refrained from endorsing President Biden, is throwing its weight behind the campaign.
While GNDN had not endorsed President Biden, the coalition has been consistent in opposing former President Trump. Vice President Harris’ unifying energy, strong track record on climate, and focus on new solutions inspired the decision to jump in the race. The Network specifically cited Harris’ record on championing environmental justice, electrifying school buses, and taking on Big Oil.
“Our coalition represents the communities that Democrats need to win, but so many of our friends and family have felt too defeated or silenced to fight. In just 10 days, Kamala Harris has reinspired millions of our people to get off our asses and take back our freedom from billionaires and corporate clowns like Donald Trump,” said Kaniela Ing, National Director of the Green New Deal Network. “The Kamala Coalition will defeat climate change, lower costs, and deliver what working people need, regardless of their race, class, gender, or geography. This election will come down to groups like ours turning our people out, and weʻre all in.”
The endorsement was decided via a majority vote of coalition members with 501c4 status and does not constitute the position of any individual coalition member. 501c3 members of the coalition do not engage in electoral work and did not participate in the endorsement decision

About the Green New Deal Network:
The Green New Deal Network serves as the central hub for the GND movement, uniting a growing coalition of national groups across various sectors. Over the past four years, the network has built a strong state infrastructure comprising over 600 organizations and millions of members across 23 states. The coalition drives campaigns for transformative investments in climate, care, jobs, and justice. Following the successful advocacy for the Inflation Reduction Act and the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act in 2021 and 2022, the network shifted its focus to ensuring these laws deliver tangible benefits to communities most affected by the climate crisis. In 2023, they leveraged these new laws to help pass 13 major state-level climate laws, and are now working on shaping climate policy for the next Congress and President.
