
The Green New Deal Newsletter served as a regular roundup of updates, analysis, and movement developments from across the country during the Green New Deal Network’s active organizing period. Issues highlighted work related to climate, care, jobs, and racial and economic justice, and documented how organizations and advocates were engaging with the Green New Deal framework at local, state, and national levels. The newsletter functioned as a record of movement activity and collective strategy during key moments in the campaign for a full-scale Green New Deal.

Latest Issue: January 2025

This issue captured a snapshot of the political and organizing landscape in early 2025, including analysis of federal policy shifts, movement responses to rising authoritarian threats, and reflections on climate and economic justice work during the final weeks of the Biden administration.
It also documented organizing efforts, coalition activity, and strategic debates shaping the climate movement at that moment in time.

September 2024
President Biden’s withdrawal from the presidential race marked a pivotal moment at the federal level, opening space for renewed debate over the direction of the next administration. This issue explores how Green New Deal demands were positioned in response, including movement priorities for the incoming administration and reflections on one year since the Lahaina wildfires, with a focus on lessons around just recovery and rebuilding.

June 2024
As extreme heat and an intense storm season placed growing pressure on communities nationwide, this issue centered on escalating demands for an immediate climate emergency declaration. Coverage includes updates on climate emergency demands delivered to the Biden administration, union-led efforts to build worker power in the emerging green economy, movement solidarity with Palestine, and new reporting on strategies to maximize federal funding for community priorities.

December 2023
The final issue of the year captures frontline demands and organizing victories from across 2023, including solidarity actions with the people of Palestine and key labor movement gains. It also marks the official kickoff of the Green New Deal for the People Tour and looks ahead to continued organizing in 2024, with reports from West Virginia, New York, and Chicago.

October 2023
